Rabbi Ya'aqov (James) Walker is the father of two Club Z teens and a Master of Rabbinic Studies graduate who was ordained in 2023 by Chief Rabbi Shmuel Capers Funnye of the International Israelite Board of Rabbis, having served as a lay leader within Charlotte congregations since 2009. Through his technology company, he partnered with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to mentor teens and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds to successful careers in the IT industry since 2014. His experience with inspiring youth to rise to new heights and his love of the language, land and Scriptures of Israel come full circle within his role at Club Z.

We are so excited that you are interested in the Club Z Institute, and are looking forward to reading your application!

We are looking for teen leaders who are ready to leave their mark on Jewish history.

Our North Carolina Region consists of a chapter in Charlotte and a newly established program in the Triangle Region. Both locations are open to teens as young as 8th grade and consist of a North Carolina Opening Retreat, 13-15 educational sessions, a National Conference, and numerous social activities. The educational sessions are held twice a month throughout the school year. Institute Calendar for 2023-2024:

First-year program participants are encouraged to apply for the Rimon Envoy leadership track to further their leadership and professional development. To qualify for graduation from the Club Z Institute, teens (in addition to other requirements) must be in the program for at least two years, attend two National conferences, two anti-Israel events and complete a Capstone Advocacy Project. Students who have successfully completed the Club Z Institute graduation requirements are eligible for an exclusive two-week trip to Israel. Club Z graduates who are still in high school are also eligible to become Club Z Fellows.
